Unlike other dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid or collagen, our biostimulator is made from Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA), which is a synthetic form of lactic acid that helps to stimulate collagen production.

Collagen is a protein the human body produces naturally. It works to give your skin a solid structure and helps to strengthen bones, being found not only in your skin and bones, but in your muscles, tendons and ligaments, organs, blood vessels and more.

As you get older, your collagen levels will start to decrease. When your body isn’t producing the same level of collagen that it used to, you may start to notice  signs of aging, such as drier and/or thinner skin and wrinkles/fine lines.

A collagen biostimulator helps to treat the signs of aging by activating your body’s ability to produce collagen. This helps to restore the skin’s inner structure and replace lost volume in the specified area, which gives your skin a firmer and more youthful look.

Our Perth collagen biostimulator injections and dermal fillers are both used to combat signs of aging whilst giving you a natural look, though there are a couple of minor differences between the two treatments. Collagen biostimulator injections work to improve the firmness, structure and tone of your skin through stimulating collagen production in the specified area, while dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid to treat wrinkles, plump lips and more. Both biostimulators and dermal fillers can be used together in some instances, but it’s best to discuss this during an appointment with one of our cosmetic injectors.

Biostimulators can be used in nearly any part of the body that you would like to increase your collagen levels. Many of our patients use these injections to reduce the visible signs of aging in different areas of the face (such as the cheeks, jawline and temple), though the neck is also an area of choice for some as it often shows signs of aging before other parts of the body.

While our sets of biostimulator treatment are not permanent, the results are long-lasting and you generally won’t need another set of treatment for two years or longer after your first treatment.

The injected area may be a little swollen, bruised and/or tender, which is completely normal. You will be advised on any aftercare required following your treatment, such as massaging the injected area in timely intervals and avoiding any other cosmetic treatments for a certain amount of time as advised by your cosmetic injector.

Perth collagen biostimulator injections cannot be dissolved, nor the effects reversed. Once your body starts to absorb the biostimulator, your skin begins producing additional levels of collagen.
